New website! Why? What does it mean?

Hello everyone -

Welcome to our new Shopify powered website.

Have you ever gotten an unexpected email that changed what you were going to be doing for the next week? That's exactly what happened to me, and is why we're here now.

On August 16th at 1:01 AM we received an email from FedEx that a critical plugin will no longer be supported, effective August 31st. This plugin is what allowed our website to calculate shipping costs and complete address validation - pretty important stuff!

Now, it's important for me to say that we have been planning to make this change to Shopify for some time (and actually already had plans to make the move later this year). So, instead of trying to find a work around (that might not exist), I decided it was time to rip off the band-aid and get right to work on moving to Shopify as quickly as possible. We got it done in about a week.

Below I'm going to outline some categories where changes of note have occurred.

  • User Accounts and Order History
    • I was able to import users from the old online store's system. If you had an account at hancoink.com before and placed an order with that account, you have received an email with a link to re-activate your account on this new platform. Please check your spam/junk folder if you haven't seen it. If I missed you, please know it wasn't personal - you're free to create a new account at your leisure.
    • You will not be able to access order history from our old system. We have offline records of this information, if you need to know what you ordered from us in the past, please reach out to info@hancoink.com.
  • Educators and Distributors
    • I was able to import all the educators and distributors from the old system. You have received an email with a link to re-activate your account on this new platform. If I missed you, please reach out to me at matt.cartwright@hancoink.com and we'll get things sorted out.
  • Shipping
    • Moving forward, we are going to be shipping with UPS. We may add additional carriers later.
    • Expedited shipping options are coming soon!
    • This new system should be much more user friendly on our warehouse people allowing us to ship even faster.
    • This new system will be more accurate. Information will get automatically transmitted to the shipping company which will help minimize user/input error on our end.

While I hope things run smoothly, I am sure there will be some bumps in the road with this large change. Just know that we will be working hard to take care of you and any problems that come up. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
